Soldier out of Fort Hood killed in Iraq

LAS Vegas — Type A soldier from Las Vegas have been killed in a wayside bomb onslaught in Iraq, the military said.

Army Sgt. Aelfred G. Paredez Jr., 32, died Tuesday in Bagdad from lesions he suffered when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device, according to the Defense Department.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Calvalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division out of Garrison Hood, Texas.

He was at least the 33nd service member from or with neckties to Silver State killed in Republic Of Iraq or Kuwait City during Operation Iraki Freedom.

Paredez's patrol was returning to the alkali after conducting an bodyguard missionary post at the clip of the attack, the military said.
